It is the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. Who is also known as ‘The light of Asia’. It became democratic and Republican country since 8 May 2008. It has the world’s second freshwater resources. It is a Federal Democratic, Republican & secular country. The population of Nepal is 28.09 million, with 67.9% literacy rate.

Many countries invaded and manipulated it but never colonized by any of them. This is one of the most interesting facts about this land. The national flag of Nepal is unique as it is the world’s only non-quadrilateral flag, which serves as both the State and Civil Flag of a sovereign country. 

It is a nation with diverse cultures and communities, and different ethnicities and communities speak 123 languages. Some caste and ethnicities are Newar, Kshetri, Tamang, Sherpa, Hyolmo, Gurung and Chepang etc. All of them has their own language and dialects. The major religions are Hinduism and Buddhism, which lives and function in harmony with each other. 

All the above-mentioned castes and ethnicities live in peace and harmony with each other, without any discrimination. This one may say is ‘the unity in diversity’. It is a peaceful country, but sometimes it has tension and conflict with the neighbouring country India. But both will never raise a hand on each other as they also believe in Brotherhood.

Nepal is located in the continent of Asia (South Asia). It a landlocked country between China & India. China the 2nd most powerful country is in the North and India, the developing country is on the East. This is the reason why we called it a landlocked country.

Nepal was not united, and it was divided into small kingdoms. When Prithvi Narayan Shah became the King and invaded all the small kingdoms, and finally he conquered them and united all the small kingdoms into a single kingdom. He declared the Kathmandu the capital of Nepal in 1769. Now, it is the most famous economic and tourist centre of Nepal.
